Author, inspirational educator, award-winning songwriter and recording artist, he is co-founder of Wisdom of the World Inc., creating 'media for a meaningful life', and Companion Arts, a nonprofit provider of educational programs and services. He is artist/founder of MusicHeals.Net and the creator of SongCare, a personalized, intuitive therapeutic artistry.

From his experience with terminally ill patients and their families, Michael co-authored and recorded Graceful Passages: A Companion For Living and Dying, now a leading palliative audio resource in America. His latest offering, Care for the Journey:Sustaining the Heart of Healthcare, presents the voices of healthcare educators addressing the spiritual roots of stress. He has presented this work at Harvard's Mind-Body Institute, George Washington Institute for Spirituality and Health, and in healthcare systems throughout the US.

A pioneer of folk chant and intuitive song, he facilitates collaborative music and theater in schools, churches, and community centers. With 30 years experience performing on the creative edge, Stillwater evokes an atmosphere of joy, trust, imagination and possibility.

A Musical Theater Workshop

Together we will develop a musical theater piece to share on the last evening of the conference. Story, lyricism, stagecraft, improvisation, singing and acting are all components we weave.

The workshop is in three parts: creation, development, and performance. Whether you have prior experience in music or theater is secondary; what is required is willingness to play, to stretch beyond your previous limits. Our time together will enhance your experience as a creative individual while being part of a creative team.

Translating relevant personal and global issues into music and theater via the avenue of the imagination, is a powerful method for learning about ourselves and each other. This is a way of deepening one's sense of presence, being open to one's authenticity and life-force. The creativity and courage it takes to originate and deliver a theater performance is somehow parallel to the courage it takes to live out one's life on the world stage. In this workshop you are invited to discover a new dimension of yourself.
