Women in African Society

My books reflect my life. At the beginning it was for necessity purpose that I start writing. From my birth in a small village in 1947of Senegal up to know , I have been thru all the socio cultural political evolution of za young senegalase woman, the only woman having been to school in a family. I rejected traditions and I had to come back to them after experiencing all the types of lives. I received a western education and made my choice for its culture. I was in a problematic of identity search. After years I was rejected by both cultures and I had to find a way for survival purpose. My autobiographical books trace all the aspects of an extraordinary life between Africa and the Western world of an african woman who had to make a choice or to disappear. When I start writing it was a necessity. I was almost 33 years old. From my ancestors" les gaulois" to Riwan ou le chemin de sable which is the return to the traditions to find my way, it is the story of an african woman who crossed two centuries. Family, education, marriage, sexuality, islam, polygamy, Europe, Africa, spirituality are the main points.
I want to talk about my autobiographical novels which trace the destiny of an african woman from the colonial period to today.
